Legacy of bidding for 2020 Olympic Games candidate cities – Istanbul, Tokyo and Madrid
Video News Release
Only one city can win, but the unique legacy of the bid process will mean a lasting sustainable impact for all three cities and not just the winner. The process has helped to encourage city authorities to use unsuccessful Olympic bids to drive a series of sustainability initiatives and create environmental legacies that outlast their initial bids and create long term benefits for their social regions.
The host city for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games will be chosen by International Olympic Committee (IOC) members in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 07th September 2013. Three candidate cities, Istanbul (Turkey), Tokyo (Japan) and Madrid (Spain) are competing for the prestige of holding the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
