STORY SCRIPT:
After winning the World Championships in the Junior and Cadet categories earlier this year in Italy, Japan’s Yuka Ueno has won Gold in the Foil event at the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 today.
She beat Italy’s Martina Favaretto in the Gold Medal Match, in a repeat of the Junior World Championship final between the two 16 year olds earlier this year.
Ueno won 15-12.
The Men’s sabre individual was the other Gold Medal event at the Africa Pavilion in Buenos Aires on the first day of competition at the Games.
Hungary’s Krisztian Rabb, 16, beat Jun Hyun, also 16, of the Republic of Korea, 15-13, to claim the Gold medal.
