STORY SCRIPT:

The first athletics medals of the Youth Olympics Games Buenos Aires were decided on Sunday (14th October).

The women’s 100 metres hurdles was the first track event to be contested. At YOG, the athletics medals are decided over the aggregate of two rounds of races, rather than heats, semi finals and final.

Grace Stark of the USA, the fastest athlete after stage one, was quickest in stage two. Her time of 12.83s to win the gold medal.

Speaking after the event, she admitted that she was relieved to have won both of her races.

The silver medal went to Ackera Nugent of Jamaica who posted a time of 12.96 while Sophie White of Australia took bronze with 13.01.
