STORY SCRIPT:

On the final night of Taekwondo at Buenos Aires 2018 the crowd were entertained by a couple of thrilling gold medal matches.

Morocco’s Fatima Aboufaras met Iran’s Kimia Hemati in the Women’s +63kg category in a keenly contested match-up.

Sixteen years old Aboufaras won the first round 2-0, Hemati replied with a 2-0 victory in the second.  It led to a fierce third round contest with the pair tied 14-14, 16-16 in total.

The judges awarded the contest to Aboufaras, giving her an 18-16 victory.

The final of the Men’s +73kg category was an edgy affair between Iran’s Mohammadali Khosravi and Meng-en Lee of Chinese Taipei. No points were scored in the first round. The only scoring shot in the second was from sixteen years old Khosravi. He did enough to hold on in the final round for a 2-1 victory.
