Description

The IOC offers the following Video News Release to all news agencies, broadcasters and online news platforms free of charge.

Evy Poppe struck gold for Belgium in the Women’s Slopestyle Snowboard event at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Lausanne 2020 in the most dramatic style.

The 15-year-old scored 94.00 on her third run in the final, and the final run of the entire event, and that was enough to snatch Gold from Melissa Peperkamp of the Netherlands, who had scored 91.75 in the second run.

Poppe and Peperkamp were a class apart in the event. Bronze medallist Bianca Gisler had a best score of 78.25.

In the finals, each athlete has three runs and their best score is the one that they use in the final rankings. Six judges mark the athletes, with the highest and lowest marks discarded, and the other four added together to give the final total.
