Olympic Gold Winner Chad le Clos becomes Youth Olympic Games ambassador – as the final countdown to the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing 2014 begins
Video News Release
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) names Chad Le Clos as Ambassador as the final countdown before the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games begins.
The South African swimmer was a five-time medallist at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore in 2010. He went on to win gold in the 200m butterfly at the London 2012 Olympic Games — and was recently crowned double world champion in Barcelona. He’ll share advice and experience with the next generation of YOG athletes, while inspiring young people around the world to get involved in sport and embrace Olympic values.
The 21-year-old follows in the footsteps of his idol Michael Phelps, who served as a YOG Ambassador in Singapore in 2010.
The second edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games will be held from 16 to 28 August in Nanjing, China. The sports programme will feature 28 sports, including golf and rugby sevens, as well as unique disciplines such as 3-on-3 basketball and 5-a-side hockey, as well as mixed gender and mixed NOC events.
Footage includes interview with Chad Le Clos, training shits, and footage of Le Clos winning his gold medals at the London 2012 Olympic Gmes and at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010.
